CNY Motocross Family Loses Long-time Member 2-5-08

Bernie Kohler, Sr., who raced until he was in his 70’s and worked on the starting line at Broome-Tioga for many years, has passed away. R.I.P. Bernie.

Women’s Class Approved for 2008 (and more) 1-9-08

Rules and class changes were voted on at the board meeting on 1-8.

CNYMRA classes for 2008 are (bolded classes are changed or new): 50cc Beginner 4-8, 50cc Junior 4-6, 50cc Senior 7-8, 65cc 7-9, 65cc 10-11, Junior Mini 9-11 (59cc-85cc), 85cc 12-15, Open Mini 12-16, Schoolboy 12-16, Women (85cc-250cc), Collegeboy 14-24, Plus25 Am, Plus25 Ex, Plus30 Novice, Plus30 Am, Plus30 Ex, Plus40 Am, Plus40 Ex, 122-125cc 2-Stroke, 122-250cc 2 & 4 stroke Novice, 122-250cc 2 & 4 Stroke Am, 122-250cc 2 & 4 Stroke Ex, 122-Open 2 & 4 Stroke Novice, 122-Open 2 & 4 Stroke Am, 122-Open 2 & 4 Stroke Ex, Quad Novice, Quad Amateur, Quad Expert.

Many of the class changes are due to changes by AMA. Their points set-up has changed, too, and will be included in the CNYMRA Motocross Guide Book.

Other changes that you may find interesting are:

Open Mini points will now be included in figuring Youth earned numbers.

The Double-Points Championship Series will be 12 races, with one drop date allowed. (Dates TBA)

Late practice has been eliminated.

Highlights of the November 13th CNYMRA Board Meeting 11-23-07

The newly elected rider reps (see below) were seated on the board and election of officers for 2008-09 was held. The officers remain the same as this year; President, Mike Dougherty, Vice Pres., Mike Murray and Sec/Treas, Donna Dougherty. We have a new 50cc Co-Ordinator: Dennis Shaut. Dennis will be the person to contact with any 50cc class questions or concerns.

Rules Committee members are Jim Simmons, Al Morgan, Vinnie Tompkins, Mike Murray and Mike Dougherty. They will meet in December to work on proposals for 2008. The next regular board meeting will be January 8, 2008.

The 2008 Schedule was set, but series dates have not yet been decided. The schedule is posted Here.

Rider Rep ballots have been counted and results are as follows(in order of total votes):

The first 6 people will take their place on the board at the November meeting. After the election of officers, the 7th person will move up to replace the newly-elected president. The next 3 people will be alternates.
